A hardworking couple in San Francisco courageously took on an entire house remodel while living onsite with their three young children. Needless to say, space was tight and their previous backyard quickly became overrun with contractor work-stations, construction materials & debris. After over a year, their remodel was complete and they were eager to reclaim their garden space. They hired us to help fulfill their goal of a relaxing French-inspired oasis. The back garden is adjacent the main bedroom so we wanted it to be an extension of a quiet, peaceful place that felt lush and interesting. We designed this small space to be intimate and inviting – including a small limestone trough water feature nearest the bedroom courtyard, cozy lounge seating with a small fire-pit table, an outdoor garden mirror surrounded by creeping fig, and a charming bench seat tucked below the Japanese maple. Phase 1 is complete with all the hardscaping and plants installed and we can’t wait to see it enhanced even further with all the finishing touches (and places to sit!) in Phase 2.
