Half Moon Bay – 3

Our clients were ready for more usable garden spaces and looked forward to interacting with wild garden spaces and native critters when stepping outside for coffee breaks in-between meetings and on the weekends. They were our first hard-core CA Native enthusiasts and our hearts leapt when they said one of their main requirements was that every plant was a Cali native…even in the containers! The plant mission was clear – but we also wanted to help them create usable patio space in the front and back yards. The house came with some very odd shaped steps that made the patio spaces difficult to use so we redesigned all the hardscaping to satisfy their desire for natural curves and welcoming areas for seating. Because Rootsy has a known boulder addiction, we also integrated some gorgeous feature boulders, interweaving them with the paving areas to add interest and informal seating. We can’t wait to see how this 100% native plant install grows in.

Installation by Stone Craft Paving & Peninsula Landscape Construction

Before & After

My husband and I engaged Laura to redesign essentially our entire landscape, front and back, including hardscaping, and we are thrilled with the results. Laura has a great eye for design, and was very patient and creative in helping us identify options that would work with our space, our preference for using California native plants, and our budget. She also helped to oversee the installation work and kept a close eye on the placement of key components of the design to ensure that her vision was realized.
