Half Moon Bay – 2

We were hired to help this DIY couple plan a new backyard – one that would be a calm, relaxing outdoor space for them to visit with friends, enjoy the coastal breeze on sunny afternoons, and welcome wildlife into their lives. The design process was extra special because as the clients started visualizing possibilities, their creativity grew and a unique labyrinth was added to the wish list! We could not have been more excited to be a part of this project. It was a journey of bringing new life to old materials to create a beautiful new garden. It was truly a labor of love by the clients and resulted in a gorgeous one-of-a-kind space they can feel proud about.

Before & After

When we decided to relandscape our overgrown backyard, we reached out to Rootsy Garden Design. We never would have achieved what we have without them. The process was a journey of change and discovery, that Laura the owner helped guide and inspire us. We started with a long wish list: things we wanted to retain, multiple seating areas, generous space for entertaining to make the most of a sunny corner of a relatively shady North-facing yard, emphasize California Natives. We also wanted low maintenance which included a Labyrinth. What a challenge! We worked on some of the project ourselves, Laura’s guidance there was indispensable for choosing between those tasks that we could accomplish and those better left to professionals. Laura has an unfailing eye for design, that we really have only fully appreciated now that the project is complete. Our space is peaceful, spiritual and yet functional but also full of thoughtful elements with unexpected vistas.
