This small project filled our hearts in a very big way. Our clients had recently moved into a new community and were eager to create a lush garden around their beautiful coastal manufactured home. On a fixed income, they had a firm budget but didn’t want to compromise on style. We were hired to design a sophisticated coastal leisure garden without breaking the bank. We advised the clients on which garden elements to prioritize, how to install it in phases, and we got creative with material choices to ensure successful implementation within their budget. The result is a garden that invites you on a journey through small spaces to discover big surprises. A redwood arbor frames the slightly curved paver path leading to the front door. Thin redwood pickets, set at uneven heights, create coastal privacy fencing throughout the various spaces. Diverse planting with seasonal interest welcome bees, bumbles and hummingbirds into the garden. Permeable GraniteCrete was used to continue the garden path around the property to an outdoor dining area. Once the furniture arrives, we expect to find our clients enjoying afternoon tea in the sunshine next to the Thai Buddha water feature – or sipping an evening glass of wine with friends at the fire pit table on their new private patio. We feel very fortunate to have been involved in such a special project with such special people.

Before & After
Imagine hiring a landscape designer who does absolutely everything extremely well. That’s Laura. Listening, design, choice of materials, drawings, cost control, communication, supervision, troubleshooting, plant selection, irrigation, quality control. All in a warm, collaborative, hands-on way that we loved. And the garden is a joy! From hardscape to plantings, it is above and beyond what we ever imagined possible.
