During Covid, our canine loving clients leaned into the joys of entertaining close friends and family in their backyard. So much so, they wanted to expand their outdoor social space into the front yard. They loved their classic California ranch-style home, but dreamt of a more modern aesthetic. Although the budget didn’t allow for major structural or siding changes to the house, we assured them we could satisfy their modern ambitions with landscape design elements. We assisted with everything from a new house color, new garage door, fencing, and custom concrete slabs with eye-catching pebble seams for a striking driveway, entry path and a lounge seating area. A smooth concrete address wall frames the entry path and anchors a modern horizontal aluminum gate and fence. Now when our clients host indoor-outdoor gatherings, they can focus on making their famous cocktails and rest easy knowing the family pups are safely secure on the property. This project was also a great opportunity to take advantage of the city’s Lawn-To-Garden rebate program. We designed a lower water use planting plan and provided everything our clients needed to secure over $2k back in their pockets.

Laura did an amazing job designing our front yard. We had a host of requirements (sometimes contradictory) and she found a unique and innovative design to meet them all. But we weren’t just impressed with the design – Laura did a great job during the actual construction phase too. She came onsite often and was a great intermediary between us and our contractor. As small issues came up she was able to pivot quickly and find good design solutions. She was patient with our numerous questions and we are so happy with the results. Our neighbors all stop and tell us how fabulous our front yard looks!
